Queen News World / Tangerang Regency, October 14, 2026 – The largest international trade exhibition in Indonesia, the 41st Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI), was officially opened today, Wednesday (14/10) at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD City, Tangerang Regency, Banten. The trade fair organized by the Ministry of Trade carries the theme “The Ultimate Hub for Global Sourcing” and will take place on October 14–18, 2026.
Coordinating Minister for Downstream Processing and Energy Transition, Bahlil Lahadalia, opened the 41st TEI today representing President Prabowo Subianto. In his remarks, Coordinating Minister Bahlil conveyed that optimal natural resource management is one of the strategic steps to bring Indonesia toward becoming a developed nation. The government continues to encourage downstream processing and industrialization to increase the added value of Indonesia's natural resources while strengthening economic self-reliance.
“The government is promoting high value-added exports through downstream processing and the industrialization of natural resources. Downstream processing is key to increasing the added value of Indonesia's natural resources while strengthening national economic self-reliance,” stated Coordinating Minister Bahlil.
Meanwhile, Minister of Trade Budi Santoso revealed that international buyers and exhibition visitors enthusiastically welcomed the 41st TEI. As of the opening of the trade fair, buyers from 134 countries and 1,873 exhibitors have registered. This year, the 41st TEI targets 30,000 visitors and potential transactions worth USD 17.5 billion. Trade Minister Busan also stated that 168 Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) between Indonesian exporters and buyers from 22 countries will be signed on the first day of the 41st TEI exhibition.
Trade Minister Busan explained that TEI is one of the Ministry of Trade's programs aimed at capturing broader export opportunities by bringing together Indonesian business actors and prospective foreign buyers. The exhibition features a wide array of national flagship products ranging from food and beverages, agriculture, manufacturing, fashion and crafts, furniture and home decor, to industrial zones to attract investor interest.
The hosting of the 41st TEI is also aligned with the Ministry of Trade's three priority programs: Securing the Domestic Market, Expanding Export Markets, and From Local to Global. These three programs are directed at improving the competitiveness of local products, broadening access to international markets, and encouraging more national business actors to enter the export market.
“In line with the President's directions, we continue to conduct trade negotiations with various countries and regions to open up export markets. To date, there are 25 trade agreements that have been implemented and 13 agreements currently under negotiation. This effort is part of the '2 YEARS OF CONCRETE ACTION' national transformation under the leadership of the President,” stated Trade Minister Busan.
Regarding the From Local to Global Program, the Ministry of Trade consistently encourages micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to enter the export market. One of the efforts is facilitating business matching between MSMEs and prospective foreign buyers. This facility is supported by 46 Indonesian trade representative offices in 33 countries, consisting of Indonesian trade attachés, Indonesian Trade Promotion Centers (ITPC), the Indonesian Commercial Representative in Hong Kong, the Indonesian Economic and Trade Office (KDEI) in Taipei, and the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the World Trade Organization (WTO).
“We are also working on export facilitation through the Innovative and Adaptable Village (BISA) Export program, which has identified many potential products from villages to be developed for penetrating export markets. In addition, we establish partnerships between MSMEs and domestic retailers so that local products increasingly dominate the domestic market,” added Trade Minister Busan.
The Ministry of Trade also continues to foster an entrepreneurial spirit among the younger generation through the Campuspreneur program. The program provides opportunities for university students to learn and develop businesses, including becoming exporters. “We teach young people to learn how to become entrepreneurs, one of which is so students can recognize the potential to become exporters. To date, we have collaborated with 25 universities across Indonesia,” added Trade Minister Busan.
Meanwhile, Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs, Zulkifli Hasan, highlighted the increasing openness of Indonesian export opportunities to non-traditional markets, particularly in South Asia and Africa. “Our market is expanding to new partner countries that we did not anticipate, and the potential turns out to be extraordinary, especially South Asia, which has the highest growth. There are Bangladesh, Pakistan, and India. Furthermore, we are also entering Africa,” stated Coordinating Minister Zulkifli Hasan.
During the opening series of the 41st TEI, Trade Minister Busan also presented several awards. First, the Primaniyarta Award for high-performing exporters and regional heads who contributed to the increase in national exports. Second, the Primaduta Award for international partners, diaspora, and heads of Indonesian representatives abroad who actively played a role in promoting Indonesian products. The Ministry of Trade will also present the Campuspreneur Award to the student who successfully records the highest transaction value during the 41st TEI.
TEI 2026 is executed with the support of Pertamina as Strategic Partner, Bank Mandiri as Bank Partner, and the Indonesian Oil Palm Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDP) as Event Partner. The 41st TEI is also supported by various institutions and agencies, namely the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), the Indonesia Eximbank (LPEI), as well as other supporting entities and institutions.(*)
